The State Grid Corporation of China issued an action plan for carbon peak and carbon neutrality

On March 1, 2021, the State Grid Corporation of China (SGCC) issued an action plan for carbon peak and carbon neutrality, proposing to accelerate the construction of a clean, low-carbon, safe and efficient energy system, continue to promote carbon emission reduction, and clarify the main practices, research paths and action plans for promoting energy and power transformation. On the energy supply side, we will build a diversified clean energy supply system, vigorously develop clean energy, promote the application of large-scale energy storage devices, accelerate the popularization and application of solar thermal power generation technology, and promote the research and development of hydrogen energy utilization, carbon capture, utilization and storage technologies. It is estimated that in 2025 and 2030, non-fossil energy will account for about 20% and 25% of primary energy consumption. On the energy consumption side, we will comprehensively promote electrification, energy conservation and efficiency improvement, and actively expand comprehensive energy services such as energy diagnosis, energy efficiency improvement, and multi-energy supply. Strengthen the dual control of energy consumption, incorporate energy-saving indicators into the performance evaluation system of ecological civilization and green development, and focus on controlling fossil energy consumption. Accelerate the transformation of energy consumption in high-energy-consuming industries such as metallurgy and chemical industry, and accelerate the substitution of electric energy in key industries such as industry, construction, and transportation. It is estimated that in 2025 and 2030, the proportion of electric energy in final energy consumption will reach more than 30% and 35%.
