The reporter learned from the China Electricity Council that with the acceleration of China's green and low-carbon energy transformation, the scale of green power trading has grown rapidly, and in the first five months of this year, China's green power trading volume exceeded 180 billion kilowatt hours.
At present, green electricity consumption mainly refers to the use of electricity generated by wind power and solar power generation. According to the latest data released by the China Electricity Council, from January to May 2024, China's green electricity trading volume reached 187.1 billion kWh, a year-on-year increase of 327%. For the whole year of 2023, the total amount of green electricity trading in the country exceeded 100 billion kWh for the first time, reaching 105.9 billion kWh, a year-on-year increase of 281.4%.
Yang Kun, executive vice president of the China Electricity Council, said that in terms of industries, the "big consumers" of green electricity cover many fields such as energy, telecommunications, petrochemicals, steel, and Internet technology, among them, the three industries of energy, steel, and the Internet are in the forefront of green power consumption, and the awareness of green power consumption of various market entities is gradually improving, and the potential of green electricity consumption has been further released.
