In the industrial field, the electricity consumption of motors accounts for about 75% of industrial electricity, so improving the energy efficiency standards of industrial motors has become one of the key measures for energy conservation and emission reduction in various countries. Recent data show that due to the impact of policies, IE3 and above energy-efficient industrial motors have shown an explosive growth trend.
Shanghai Electric Power Research Institute released the national production data of small and medium-sized motors in 2022. According to the data, in 2022, the total output of small and medium-sized motors in the country will be about 262 million kilowatts, of which the output of IE3 and above energy-efficient motors will be about 167.7 million kilowatts, a year-on-year increase of 81.1%, the output of IE4 and above energy-efficient motors will be about 54.8 million kilowatts, a year-on-year increase of 65.1%, and exports will be 32.5 million kilowatts, a year-on-year increase of 14.4%.
National production data of small and medium-sized motors
IE3 and above energy-efficient industrial motors have shown explosive growth, benefiting from policies such as the "Motor Energy Efficiency Improvement Plan". On June 1, 2021, China's latest version of the mandatory national standard GB 18613-2020 "Motor Energy Efficiency Limits and Energy Efficiency Grades" was officially implemented, and since then, the domestic motor industry has fully entered the IE3 high-efficiency era. IE3 energy efficiency motor can improve the energy efficiency by 4% compared with ordinary motors. Take a motor with a power of 7.5kW as an example, its annual power consumption is about 20,000 kWh, and after the motor improves energy efficiency by 4%, it can save 800 kWh of electricity a year, even if the electricity price is 1 yuan, an IE3 motor can save 800 yuan a year.
According to the data, through energy efficiency improvement, the overall efficiency of the motor system can be increased by 5~8%, and China can save 1300~230 billion kilowatt hours of electricity every year, which is equivalent to the power generation of 2~3 Three Gorges power stations.
