Tournament Introduction
In July 2018, at the 3rd BRICS Industry Ministers' Meeting, all parties agreed to establish the BRICS Partnership for the New Industrial Revolution (hereinafter referred to as the Partnership). In the same year, the 10th BRICS Summit endorsed the partnership initiative and decided to fully launch the partnership. Adhering to the BRICS spirit of openness, inclusiveness and win-win cooperation, and following the principle of extensive consultation, joint contribution and shared benefits, the partnership aims to turn the vision of the second "Golden Decade" into reality by deepening BRICS cooperation in the fields of digitalization, industrialization, innovation, inclusiveness and investment. The 11th BRICS Summit (November 2019, Brazil), the 12th Meeting (Moscow, November 2020), the 13th Meeting (New Delhi, September 2021), the 14th Meeting (Beijing, June 2022), and the 15th Meeting (Johannesburg, October 2023) all reaffirmed the need to advance partnership. In 2024, the BRICS countries will achieve a historic expansion, and the influence of the BRICS cooperation mechanism will continue to increase, providing a broader space for building partnerships.
The first meeting of the Partnership Advisory Group was held in Johannesburg, South Africa, in December 2018, with the participation of representatives of BRICS countries' relevant departments such as industry and communications, and the implementation process of the partnership was initiated. In September 2019, at the second meeting of the Partnership Advisory Group in Brazil, the Partnership Work Plan was agreed upon. At the 2022 Advisory Group meeting, the parties jointly revised the Work Plan, encouraged members to make suggestions and measures on the implementation of the Work Plan, and organized activities aimed at the implementation of the Work Plan.
China has actively implemented the Work Plan, focused on human resources development and project cooperation in the context of the new industrial revolution, and held four consecutive industrial innovation competitions from 2020 to 2023, providing an effective platform for all parties to compete on the same stage, friendly exchanges and mutual learning, and creating a good atmosphere for BRICS industrial innovation cooperation and talent exchanges.
In order to promote the implementation of partnerships and further promote talent training and capacity building in the field of the new industrial revolution, the 2024 BRICS Industrial Innovation Competition was launched in May 2024. The theme of this year's competition is "Working Together to Build High-quality Partnerships and Start a New Journey of New Industrialization Cooperation", and will set up five tracks: "Artificial Intelligence - Large Model", "Intelligent Manufacturing - Intelligent Equipment", "Green Industry - Low-carbon Technology and Application", "Low-altitude Industry - General Aviation" and "Energy Electronics - Photovoltaic and New Energy Storage".
As the organizer of the national competition of the "Green Industry - Low-carbon Technology and Application" track of this competition, the China Association of Circular Economy will actively play the role of organization and coordination and think tank, adhere to the principle of fairness and justice, and promote the work of the event.
