Wang Jiangping participated in the seminar on carbon peak and carbon neutrality of the Party Branch of the Department of Raw Materials Industry

On March 5, 2021, the Party Branch of the Department of Raw Materials Industry of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology organized branch activities to deeply study and comprehend the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping's important speech on carbon peak and carbon neutrality, discuss the implementation path of carbon emission reduction in the raw material industry, promote key industries to take the lead in achieving carbon peak during the "14th Five-Year Plan" period, and promote the industry to accelerate high-quality development. The meeting was presided over by Comrade Chen Kelong, Secretary of the Party Branch of the Department of Raw Materials Industry of the Ministry, and invited experts such as Li Xinchuang of the Metallurgical Planning Institute and Ke Shanshan of Baowu Group to give a special explanation on the carbon peak path measures of the iron and steel industry.

Comrade Wang Jiangping pointed out that China's carbon dioxide emissions strive to peak before 2030 and achieve carbon neutrality before 2060, which is a solemn commitment made by General Secretary Xi Jinping to the world, and a major strategic deployment made by the Party Central Committee and the State Council. Implement the actual work of the raw material industry, and follow this to do a good job in industry planning and industry management.

Comrade Wang Jiangping emphasized that the raw material industry is a key area of carbon emissions, and the carbon emissions of the industry account for a large proportion of the carbon emissions of the whole society. In the early stage, the steel and other industries planned ahead, and leading enterprises such as Baowu responded quickly, explored some good experience and practices in promoting the low-carbon and green development of the industry, and developed and reserved a number of key technologies for energy conservation and emission reduction, and achieved initial results. In the next step, we should continue to take the initiative and take responsibility, strengthen the research and development, promotion and application of low-carbon technologies, and do a solid job in related work.

Comrade Wang Jiangping demanded that the raw material industry should further strengthen the top-level design, do a good job in systematic planning, anchor the "two major nodes", focus on key industries such as steel, petrochemical industry, non-ferrous metals, building materials, etc., strengthen the overall planning of all parties, form a joint work force, and do a good job with the "14th Five-Year Plan", scientifically formulate the implementation plan for carbon peaking, clarify the measures, paths and time node requirements, and strive to be the first to reach the peak and neutralize, and make due contributions to China's comprehensive realization of carbon peak and carbon neutrality.
