On September 28, 2021, the Symposium on the Promotion and Exchange of High-efficiency Motors and Green Manufacturing to Help Carbon Peak and Carbon Neutrality was held in Beijing. The conference was hosted by the Institute of Ecological Civilization of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. The Department of Energy Conservation and Comprehensive Utilization of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the China High Efficiency Motor Promotion Project Office, the International Economic and Technical Cooperation Center of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, experts in the field of energy efficiency and green manufacturing and representatives of international institutions, research institutions in the field of electric motors, industry associations and representatives of key motor enterprises attended the meeting.
At the meeting, Liu Yanhua, former vice minister of the Ministry of Science and Technology, Pan Jiahua, member of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, and comrades in charge of the Department of Energy Conservation and Comprehensive Utilization of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology respectively made speeches on the energy transformation of high-efficiency motors, the industrial revolution and risks of carbon neutrality, industrial energy conservation and efficiency improvement, and green and low-carbon development. The China High Efficiency Motor Promotion Project Office introduced the main achievements of the project and displayed them through the online exhibition hall and offline exhibition. The Center for International Economic and Technical Cooperation of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology issued an initiative for the sustainable development of high-efficiency motors, and nearly 100 motor companies and related institutions responded. Representatives of the Germany Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ), the Consulate General of United Kingdom in Guangzhou, the Japan Electronics and Information Technology Industry Association and other relevant international organizations exchanged international experiences on energy efficiency and green manufacturing. Representatives of Tsinghua University, Shanghai Electrical Apparatus Research Institute, and key motor enterprises discussed the promotion of high-efficiency motors, and representatives of the Asian Development Bank, the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, the International Copper Association, and the Institute of Electrical Engineering of the Chinese Academy of Sciences exchanged views on the prospects and opportunities of international cooperation in energy efficiency and green manufacturing.
The high-efficiency motor promotion project is an international cooperation project jointly implemented by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) with the support of the Global Environment Facility (GEF), aiming to promote the improvement of China's high-efficiency motor production capacity and accelerate the promotion and application of high-efficiency motors. This symposium is one of the series of exchange and promotion activities of the project.
