Wang Jiangping said that the steel industry is one of the industries with the largest carbon emissions, and it is of great significance to promote green and low-carbon transformation. Guiding the orderly development of the electric furnace short-process steelmaking industry is an important measure to promote the carbon peak and carbon neutrality of China's iron and steel industry. In recent years, the development of the electric furnace steel industry has made significant progress, the proportion of electric furnace steel has been increasing, the product composition has been continuously improved, and the policy environment has been continuously improved, and the development of the electric furnace steel industry has ushered in an important opportunity period.

Wang Jiangping stressed that the iron and steel industry should strengthen goal-oriented and problem-oriented, and explore and solve the difficult problems faced by the development of the electric furnace steel industry, such as relatively insufficient scrap resources, low cost competitiveness, and low level of technical equipment. It is necessary to strengthen overall planning and coordination, implement the "Implementation Plan for Carrying out the High-quality Development Leading Project of Electric Furnace Short-process Steelmaking", promote the innovative development of green and intelligent, build and cultivate benchmarking enterprises, implement the "three products" action of the raw material industry, enhance the ability to recycle and utilize resources such as scrap steel, create a world-class industrial cluster, solidly promote the deepening and practical implementation of the electric furnace steel leading project, promote the high-quality development of the iron and steel industry, and make due contributions to the construction of a beautiful China.

The conference was jointly convened by the Sichuan Provincial People's Government, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, and the Ministry of Ecology and Environment. Representatives of local industry and information technology departments, ecological environment departments, key iron and steel enterprises, industry associations, and relevant universities attended the meeting.
